We Built Something Good

Uno

In April 2024, we completed 171 new homes for high-quality student living. Uno is one of the first residential buildings in Oulu to be built entirely to P1 cleanroom standards, the same level of air purity required in hospitals, ensuring the cleanest possible indoor air for residents.

Uno was designed as a landmark that will serve students well for years to come. Its spaces are engaging, from the gyms and bike repair rooms to areas that encourage connection and community.

“Nowhere else do residents greet others as often as in Uno. Maybe that says something about the power of shared space and its design.”

Jari Simonen, Customer Service Manager

Community Garden

The outdoor living room of Yliopistokatu was built on the site of a demolished daycare, and everything in this shared courtyard is made from reused materials. The space brings people together to enjoy the outdoors — and pollinators love it too.

Social Responsibility

We Supported Good Student Life

The past few years have been economically tough — especially for students. Because PSOAS was founded by students, the well-being of our residents is the starting point for everything we do. In 2024, the value of that work stood out more than ever.

Rents Did Not Increase

By keeping rents at the same level as in 2023, we aimed to support students’ financial stability — which has been weakened by rising living costs and reduced financial aid.

Enriching Everyday Student Life

Our goal is to enable a good and high-quality student life — one that reflects the students themselves. One indicator of this is our excellent tenant satisfaction.

We invested significantly in student well-being, involved our residents, and supported those who faced difficult situations.

Well-being Is Something We Share

We believe that when our staff thrive, that well-being radiates to our residents too.

Economic responsibilty

We Aimed for Only One Kind of Profit

That profit is the good life our residents and their growth into well-being, collaborative, and thoughtful professionals in their fields.

In our decisions, we kept in mind that both our finances and our properties must remain sustainable for future generations of students.

Property Operating Expenses 2024

The rent our residents pay returns in full into their well-being and housing. It covers the day-to-day costs of our properties, enables the services we offer to residents, and funds investments and renovations that improve comfort and quality of life.

Environmental responsibility

We Saved on Consumption, Not on Quality

We aim to make wise choices easy for our residents.

In 2024, we continued to encourage smart consumption and recycling through practical everyday solutions and technical improvements.

Sharing Is Caring

We offered items like mobility and recreational equipment for students to borrow, so that everyone doesn’t need to buy their own and consume more.

Sharing is a climate act, and it opens more ways to live and explore.
