Planning for the renovation of Kumpula in Välkkylä is underway, and the goal is to make the building better suited for future residents’ everyday life and community living.

As part of the planning process, PSOAS is giving residents a chance to have their say at an early stage. A vote is now open on the visual concept for Kumpula’s common area. The options are Sun, Forest and Orange, and the most popular choice will be used as the basis for further design.

The vote is open to all PSOAS residents and can be found in OmaPSOAS. Plus, everyone who participates can enter a raffle for three gift cards! Residents’ input plays a key role in ensuring that Kumpula becomes a truly welcoming and communal space.

The development of the Välkkylä area as a whole is in progress. New construction started in autumn 2022, with the aim of creating a cozy and functional student village that meets future needs. Originally built between 1966 and 1971, Välkkylä’s buildings were first renovated in 1993–1995.

Now, we’re updating the buildings and shared spaces to match today’s housing standards. Comfort, functionality, and community are at the heart of these improvements, so Välkkylä will continue to serve students well for decades to come.
