PSOAS’s mission is to provide affordable housing for students. For this reason, we regularly check whether our tenants continue to meet the eligibility criteria for student housing. These checks are based on legislation, regulatory supervision, and PSOAS’s rules. Their purpose is to ensure that student housing is allocated to those who need it and that all tenants are treated equally. Eligibility checks are a routine part of our operations.
🎓 What Is Required to Maintain Housing Eligibility?
Living in a PSOAS apartment requires full-time studies leading to a degree. Studies should progress by at least 20 ECTS credits per year, or 40 ECTS credits over two years.
This credit requirement serves as minimum evidence that studies are still actively progressing.
🔍 How Is the Check Conducted?
Housing eligibility may be checked, for example, when a tenancy has continued for five years. Checks are also carried out on a random basis throughout the year.
The process is conducted electronically, making it easy to complete from home.
✅ What Should You Do If You Receive a Check Request?
If you are selected for a check, you will receive an email with instructions, information about the required documents, and the deadline for submitting them. The required documents are a transcript of records and a confirmation of the duration of your study right.
If your studies have been interrupted or delayed due to a difficult life situation, please also provide an explanation of the circumstances.
It is important to submit the requested documents by the given deadline. If the documents are not provided on time, your tenancy agreement may be terminated without the right to renewal. Therefore, it is important to respond promptly and actively.
📝 Keep Your Information Up to Date
Tenants are responsible for informing PSOAS of any changes in their study status. Please notify us if, for example, your place of study changes, your studies are interrupted, or you graduate.
You should also make sure that your contact information is up to date. Accurate contact details ensure that important housing-related communications reach you without delay.
