use of personal data
The apartment rental operations of Northern Finland Student Housing (later “PSOAS”) require the processing of personal data. Processing of personal data is based on customership, other appropriate affiliation or consent by the customer. Personal data are used for example for customership maintenance, customer satisfaction and other surveys, communication with customers, housing maintenance and marketing of apartments. PSOAS pay special attention to protecting the customers’ privacy and personal data, and comply with good data processing principles.
Personal data are mainly collected from the customers themselves. In addition, personal data are collected from e.g. the credit information register of Suomen Asiakastieto Oy and the population data system of the Population Register Centre. Data are also collected from different schools to verify the right to housing and right to study in compliance to our rules.
PSOAS may also use “cookies” and other similar technologies such as www analytics on their websites to collect information about the users’ terminals (see more at https://www.psoas.fi/en/terms-of-use). The collected data is, as a rule, not released outside PSOAS, with the exception of situations where the ownership of the housing changes and cooperating parties in accordance to the data protection plan.
According to the Personal Data Act, every person has the right to inspect which data concerning them has been recorded in the register. The data access request should be made in person at a PSOAS office. Upon data access requests, the applicant must prove their identity and disclose whether they wish to inspect data related to a specific issue, all data or data for a particular period of time.
The customer has the right to demand the rectification, deletion or completion of a piece of their data in the register that is incorrect, outdated, incomplete or unnecessary for the purpose of processing.
The right to restriction means the right of the person to deny the data controller the use of the person’s data for direct marketing. One can also cancel a previously given consent for direct marketing at any time by notifying the restriction at the address firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional information on the processing of personal data can be found in the description of the register based on customership and other appropriate affiliation (customer register).
