Resident's Guide
Rules and regulations
In addition to renting apartments, the law dictates the responsibilities and duties of the landlord and the tenant as well as the rules and regulations of the public order ordinance and the property. They have been drafted to ensure that tenants enjoy living where they are and to promote safety. For this reason, it benefits us all when they are complied with.
Tenants are responsible for ensuring that their guests comply with the laws as well as the rules and regulations, both in the apartment and in the common areas.
Disturbances next door
If your neighbor's lifestyle deviates from the norm and is constantly and excessively bothering you and your other neighbors, contact the president of your tenant committee or discuss it with the regional property supervisor of PSOAS, depending on the problem.
Complaints should be in writing and are free-form (signed by two or more tenants from different apartments). The complaint should be dated and signed. The person filing the complaint must be prepared to be a witness in housing court.
The regional property supervisor will send the person creating the disturbance a written warning that states that the rental agreement will be terminated if he or she continues to create problems (at this stage, the name of the person who has signed the complaint is not revealed).
If, however, problems and disturbances arise after the tenant has been warned, PSOAS will start measures to terminate the rental agreement.
If the disturbance is especially serious in the evening or night-time, you can call 112 and ask the police to come and calm down the situation.
