Applying Information

Anyone studying in Oulu can apply for an apartment of PSOAS. You can either leave your application in the Housing Office of PSOAS or on these Internet pages.

In order to apply for student residence, an application form must be filled in. You can fill in the form either in the Housing Office or on the Internet. The application is valid for 90 days, and the applicants must see to renewing it themselves.

The easiest way to renew an application is via e-mail or telephone +358 (0)8 3173 110. Unfortunately, one usually has to wait before getting an apartment, and it is not possible to get information on the situation in the waiting list. We will contact you as soon as an apartment becomes available.

• Who can apply for a student residence?

  The apartments of PSOAS are available for all the students doing post comprehensive school studies in an institution in Oulu: that is, the students of universities, secondary educational institutes and colleges, upper secondary schools and the institutes comparable to them.

• Attachments

  You have to attach your registration certificate or a certificate of acceptance of an institution to your application. The registration certificate must be presented at the latest when an apartment is offered to you.

• Deposit and administration fee

  A deposit and an administration fee must be paid before signing the rental agreement. The administration fee is 100 euros (including the opening fee for Internet) and will not be refunded. The deposit is the tenants' guarantee that they will take care of their duties and take good care of the apartment. The deposit for shared apartments is 250 €, and for other apartments 400 €.

  After the termination of the rental agreement, the landlord can deduct the costs of repairing the damage caused by the tenant or additional cleaning from the deposit. If the apartment is in good condition and all the duties have been taken care of, the deposit will be refunded to the bank account indicated by the tenant within one month of the termination of the agreement. • Apartment types

  Shared apartment:

  Each tenant has his/her own room, which can be locked. The kitchen and the bathroom are shared by the tenants.

  Family apartment:

  Family apartments have 2-3 rooms and a kitchen or a kitchenette. These apartments are meant for couples and families with children.

  Studio apartments:

  Studio apartments for single students is a single-room apartment with kitcen or kitchenette. The number of studios is rather limited. That is why internal applicants (tenants who are already living at PSOAS) have priority to these apartments.

• Furniture

  We can offer foreign students furnished rooms in a shared apartment. When you rent a furnished room a rent of 10 e/month will be added to your monthly rent for the room.

  The furniture which are old but suitable consist of a table, a chair, a bed with mattress and a ceiling lamp. Please, note that there are no curtains, carpets, blankets, pillows or kitchen utensils in the room.

  Furnished rooms in a shared flat are available in Raksila (Välkkylä), Tirolintie 2A (Alppila) and in Yliopistokatu 16 and 18 (Linnanmaa). In Raksila there are furnished rooms only in 2-room shard apartments. If there are no furnished rooms available we will offer you an unfurnished room.
